Lagoon Life

Lizards, snakes, mice… Some people might say the creatures that live in a lagoon are creepy. We say they're special.

A coalition of four classes at Skyline School in Solana Beach, California, USA, joined forces with San Diego County park rangers to learn about plants and animals inhabiting a nearby lagoon. Here are their findings.

Silvery Legless Lizard

L is for Lizard.

E is for the elegant moves it makes.

G is for Geronimo which is its other name.

L is for Legless.

E is for its eyes which are small and movable.

S is for its home, San Elijo Lagoon.

S is for its slender body.

 

L is for its lower jaw which helps it move dirt.

I is for its ten inch long body.

Z is for the zoologists that study it.

A is for the arthropods it eats.

R is for reptile.

D is for the digging skills it has.
